Collingwood Wedding Venue- Living Water Resort

5/21/2019

This one goes out to all of you Brides and Grooms who are in search of a stunning Wedding Venue...let me tell you about the Living Water resort in Collingwood!

Last week I got the opportunity to spend a night at this beautiful Resort. Not only did I get the most amazing Suite (with a full kitchen and a view of the water) but I also got to tour all of their venues, experience their amenities and dine on some delicious meals.

With 6 different Venues which are able to hold anywhere from a small intimate gathering up to a Celebration of over 200 people, this magical place has so much to offer. You can choose almost any Ceremony/Reception site that you desire; Waterfront, Restaurant, Golf Course and the Traditional Hotel Venue.

Equipped with its own Catering and Restaurants, a PHENOMENAL Spa, Pool, Fitness Centre...and lets not forget those views though, Living Water is a picturesque Oasis and the perfect place to escape the busy city and gather with your family and friends.

If you are interested in finding out more head on over to www.livingwaterresortandspa.com.

Until next week...Cheers!

Weekend Madness

5/2/2019

Well that was nuts... LOL
The 2 Open House wedding shows that we had been prepping for took place this past weekend. Days of planning, preparation and organizing were necessary in order to schedule setting up and being at both booths during overlapping times and then tearing down, and it was not an easy feat hahaha.
On Friday with the help of my trusty assistant (also known as my husband), I loaded up my van and set off to Collingwood with a crazy good country playlist. When I arrived, I unloaded at both venues, got my tables ready, and got to meet the sweetest vendors from neighbouring booths, this is also where I got my cardio in for the weekend!
Then 2 of my girlfriends/employees met me at the Beautiful Living Waters Hotel and we had some good old fashioned girl time with loads of marketing work mixed in...and a little bit of wine...until 2am.
Saturday Morning the hotel room looked just as you'd imagine it would and everybody still had their hair to do but we didn't have to leave until 10:30 so that was definitely our saving grace.
Stationed 2 to a booth, one of my fantastic florists joined us and we got to mingle and meet brides and grooms all day while reppin our new Thistle and Birch shirts- and it was a blast. We gave out flowers and bath bombs and got to talk about everything floral related while also tasting all the yummy appetizers that were going around #jobperk.
Needless to say by 6pm we were spent and ready to kick our shoes off but we felt so fulfilled and just grateful for this wonderful opportunity.
There ain't no life like the #florallife.
Until next week... <3

TV Show: "The Aisle to Marriage"

4/23/2019

Last week I had the privilege of being a guest on the new Rogers TV show "The Aisle to Marriage". Hosted by my friend and colleague Debbie Savic, this new show explores everything wedding related in Simcoe County...and I love anything that supports local businesses WoooHooooo!

I started off the day with a visit to DAMN beauty, a fantastic local makeup artist who slayed my look ( I only wish I could do my own makeup like that lol). After that was done, I loaded up my van and headed over to the Rogers Office. Now, I will admit I was VERY nervous and I have no idea why, because the truth is I love talking hahaha, especially public speaking, but sometimes new things make us nervous. With that said I had such a great time on the set, the staff + co-op students were so lovely and the time flew by!

Now this doesn't mean I'll be racing to do another show anytime soon, but am I ever thankful that I was invited to this one! This past year has been a time of great Personal & Business growth for me and I am so incredibly grateful for every new opportunity that comes my way.

So here's a Cheers to 2019, let's live it to the fullest and find comfort in some of life's most uncomfortable places.

We're going to be on TV!

Yup...you read that correctly, we are currently preparing to film tomorrow an episode of "The Aisle to Marriage" presented by Rogers :)

Anyone who really knows me knows that I do not particularly enjoy being on film...at all lol. I've just always shied away from it, but when my good friend Debbie Savic called me up and presented me with this opportunity I knew that I could not turn it down, also because she wouldn't allow me to hahaha (that's what friends are for).

During this episode we're going to be talking about Wedding flowers, preparing a centrepiece for you and tackling common floral questions.

Needless to say I cannot be responsible for doing my own makeup so I had to give Diana a shout from DAMN Beauty and this will be the first time I've ever had my makeup professionally done so make sure to tune in to our insta stories tomorrow for all of that fun!

I'd be lying if I said I wasn't nervous but I will make sure to let ya'll know when this episode airs, unless I fall or something then we will never speak of it again.

Preparing for your Floral Consultation

You've got the ring, you've set a date and you've picked a venue...now it's time to book your vendors!

Florists, DJ's, Photographers, Caterers and so much more- There are a lot of decisions to be made and a lot of meetings to be had.

With each vendor, your research and prep will look very different. Here are a few tips to get you ready to meet your florist and to have your floral consultation...

  • Theme and color scheme- Florists are very visual creatures and we love to not only design with our hands but with our minds as well. The better picture you can paint for us for your Wedding day the better we can envision and plan for it.
  • Pictures- Bring Pictures of Bouquets and Arrangements that you Love! Whether it be from a magazine or from Pinterest. Try to narrow down the style of floral arranging that you like before showing up so your florist will know what you're really looking for.
  • Know your Numbers- Although your final numbers for guests and tables might not be confirmed yet you should have a rough idea of how much of each piece you will need.
  • Flowers- All flowers are created differently and have different attributes and lifespans. If you have specific flowers that you really want to include on your wedding day make sure to check with your florist for availability, color selection and durability.
  • Budget- As florists we don't need an exact number to get started with your quote but we at least need an idea of where you stand. An average bridal bouquet alone can run anywhere from $85-$300+ so its important that you know what the max is that you're willing to spend.
  • Pickup or Delivery- Will you need your flowers delivered on the day-of or do you have a friend or family member who can pick up for you? Also, will you have a day-of co-ordinator or will you need help setting up your arrangements?
Lastly, ensure to meet with and choose your florist at least 6 months before your wedding day. Many Florists don't want to over extend themselves and will only take on a certain number of weddings per weekend, so make sure to pay your deposit, sign your contract and save your spot!

Happy Planning!! XOXO

Double Wedding Show Prep

3/28/2019

This year has been quite exciting for us so far and the adventures are really just beginning!

As you may already know Thistle and Birch was one of the sponsors for both Diamonds and Dreams Wedding Show this winter and they were also the first shows that we've been a part of. It was such a great experience learning the ins and outs of the wedding show industry and getting to meet so many brides and grooms to be, that we couldn't wait to take part in our next show.

Well, to our surprise and excitement we received an email letting us know that we had been invited to be a preferred vendor at Blue Mountain (WHAT?!?!?!) and that they would be holding an open house on April 27 which we were invited to attend and showcase some of our work. AMAZING <3

Little did I know we would then be receiving a second open house invite from Living Waters to take part in their show...on the same day- Life is funny that way but I am ever so grateful. I have worked with both of these venues in the past and I just love them!

Luckily I have a great team and we decided that we are going to make both work...

On April 27 make sure to take a drive out to Collingwood to tour these 2 beautiful venues and also to check out both our booths. We will be showcasing 2 very different and exciting looks. Right now I am in the midst of picking themes and choosing some fun and beautiful containers to display...not to mention the florals...WOWZA.

So mark it in your calendars....ROAD TRIP!!!
